Časopis vychází každoročně od roku 2008 a formálně navazuje na sborníkovou řadu Acta historica et museologica. Od roku 2010 je veden v Seznam recenzovaných neimpaktovaných časopisů vydávaných v České republice. Od dubna 2017 je zařazen do mezinárodní databáze ERIH PLUS.
„Acta“ jsou standartním akademickým časopisem vydávajícím původní odborné studie a články z oblasti historie, kulturní historie, historiografie, dějiny umění, filozofie dějin a příbuzných oborů. V rámci edice jsou rovněž publikovány dosud nevydané dokumenty. Obsah časopisu rovněž tvoří recenze a anotace aktuálních relevantních publikací české i zahraniční provenience a zprávy o vědeckém životě s mezinárodním přesahem. Časopis poskytuje odborné fórum pro národní i mezinárodní vědce.
Původní studie podléhají standartním mezinárodním pravidlům pro recenzované časopisy. Na každou původní studii jsou vypracovány minimálně dva nezávislé posudky, na jejichž základě redakční rada rozhodne o publikování nebo odmítnutí dané studie.

History: The journal has been published since 2008 and formally builds on the series Acta historica et museologica. Since 2010 it has been listed in the „List of non-impact peer-reviewed journals published in the Czech Republic“. It is published once a year.
AHUSO is a standard academic journal containing thematically appropriate original research articles, studies, varia, recent literature reviews and annotations, as well as reports of the scientific life not only within the Silesian region, but also with international overlapping. The journal publishes on history, cultural history, historiography, art history, philosophy of history and related disciplines. It also publishes edited unknown documents as to the recent history. It provides a forum for national or international scientists in the fields of research.
The course of the peer-review procedure: Publication of an article in the journal AHUSO is subject to pre-publication peer review. The Editorial Board requires two independent reviews. Referees must not be employees of the same department as the author or co-authors and also in any other way in a conflict of interest regarding the peer-reviewed article. On the basis of the peer-reviews the Editorial Board will consider release or rejection of the submissions.
