Stručná charakteristika projektu
Postavení ženy ve společnosti v minulosti záviselo a stále závisí na řadě faktorů. Některé z nich jsou trvalé a neměnné (vrozené), některé se dynamicky mění v průběhu života ženy v závislosti na jejím věku, členech její rodiny a dalších faktorech, jako je vypuknutí ozbrojeného konfliktu, epidemie nebo okolnosti politického a ekonomického vývoje. Svědectví pramenů, které se dochovaly pro sledované období (15. – 18. století), jsou těžko pochopitelné bez základní znalosti historického kontextu a základních rysů jednotlivých typů dostupných primárních pramenů. Správná interpretace pramenů nám může pomoci pochopit mechanismy fungování předmoderní společnosti i kořeny dnešního společenského řádu a procesy, které jeho vznik ovlivňovaly. Důkladná analýza písemných pramenů nám může poskytnout informace o mentalitách, rozvíjející se emancipaci, sociální reflexi popisovaných jevů a umožňuje konfrontaci individuální situace s ideálem, který prostřednictvím svých komunikačních kanálů prosazoval předmoderní stát a církev.
Náš projekt se soustředí na dva základní okruhy problémů. Zaprvé je to otázka (zatím relativně málo intenzivní) akademické a studentské peregrinace mezi zapojenými institucemi, kterou bychom rádi podpořili a posílili. Zadruhé bychom rádi podpořili mezinárodní spolupráci v oblasti akademického výzkumu i studentských badatelských projektů. Při řešení obou těchto problémů si náš projekt klade za cíl poskytnout zázemí pro představení možností, které mohou zapojené instituce nabídnout, a pro sdílení badatelských zkušeností s prací se zdroji (primárními historickými prameny) různého charakteru. Mezinárodního odborného workshopu (jaro 2023) se zúčastní výzkumníci z teritoriálně a z hlediska historického vývoje si blízkých regionů (CZ, PL, SK, UA) zabývající se problematikou předmoderní rodiny a měnícího se postavení ženy v různých sociálních vrstvách a situacích. Výsledky tohoto workshopu budou zveřejněny formou online studijního materiálu pro studenty nadcházející letní školy. Ta se uskuteční v září 2023 a zaměří se na rozvoj dovedností studentů při práci se všemi druhy (především písemných) primárních historických pramenů využívaných pro výzkum dějin rodiny a gender history.

| Letní škola „Little (Big) Women – Historical sources for family research and gender history“, Opava CZ | 11/09/2023–15/09/2023 | Zářijová letní škola bude zaměřena především na problematiku práce s různými typy pramenů, které lze využít k analýze sledovaného fenoménu – tedy proměn vnímání postavení ženy v předmoderní společnosti a jí příslušející role, respektive situací, kdy byla nucena touto rolí vymezenou linii překročit – ať už z vlastní vůle, nebo vlivem okolností. Studenti se seznámí se základními postupy analýzy různých typů pramenného materiálu, navštíví opavské paměťové instituce, v nichž jsou uloženy a zúčastní se celodenní exkurze (Státní zámek Raduň). Kapacita: 5 studentů z každé zapojené země, studenti z UA – účast online. |

Strukturovaná studijní opora je výsledkem jarního mezinárodního workshopu. Jejím účelem je usnadnit čtenáři orientaci v problematice, poskytnout základní informace každému zájemci o problematiku, ale především posloužit účastníkům letní školy. PROJECT SUMMARY (a brief description of the project)
The position of a woman in a society depends on a number of factors. Some of them are permanent and unchanging (innate), some are changing dynamically during a woman’s life depending on her age, members of her family and other factors such as outbreaking of armed conflict, epidemy or political and economic development. Testimony of the sources that have been preserved for the period under review (15th – 18th century) is difficult to understand without the basic knowledge of historical context and fundamental features of each type of primary sources available. However, a correct interpretation of the sources can help us understand the functioning mechanisms of pre-Modern society as well as the roots of today’s social order and the processes that influenced its creation. Thorough analysis of written sources can provide us with the information concerning mentalities, developing emancipation, social reflection of described phenomena and could bring a fruitful confrontation of individual situation with the ideal promoted by pre-modern state and church via their communication channels.
There are two main issues our project wants to address. Firstly, there is the issue of (still relatively weak) academic and student mobility between the involved institutions we would like to support and strengthen. Secondly, we would like to support international cooperation in the field of both academic and student research projects. To support international mobility of students and academics and develop cooperation on future research projects, it is necessary to share experience and be aware of existing possibilities. Addressing both these issues, our project aims to provide a background for presenting the possibilities the involved institutions can provide and for sharing research-experience on working with sources of various characteristics.
Researchers from territorially and historically related regions (CZ, PL, SK, UA) dealing with the issue of pre-Modern family and changing position of women in various social situations will participate in one expert workshop (spring 2023). The results of this workshop will be published in a form of an online study material for the upcoming summer school for students. The course will take place in September 2023 and it will focus on developing the students’ skills concerning work with all kinds of (written) primary historical sources suitable for family research and gender history.
This is the second time the Silesian University in Opava is initiating a similar project (Visegrad Fund) in cooperation with Pedagogical University of Krakow. And for the first time the IVF project is partly aimed at students. The aim of the project is to promote contacts between the institutions involved in academic research as well as teaching (Silesian University in Opava, Pedagogical University of Krakow, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and Institute of History of Ukraine NASU). It will help implement the principle of internationalisation into the teaching process.

Silesian University in Opava was founded at the beginning of 90’s of previous century and the Institute of History is one of the oldest research institutions within its structures. In addition to a long-term research focus on Silesian history, research influenced by the approaches of cultural history, focusing on modern history and the field of cultural heritage protection and its presentation, is developing very dynamically. The Institute of Historical Sciences consists of two parts: the Department of History and the Department of Monument Preservation and Museology. Within the Institute two research centers can be found: Research Center for Contemporary History, Historical Memory and Cultural History (1800-2000) and Research Center for the Cultural History of Silesia and Central Europe (1000-1800). There has been an intensive co-operation between the institute and numerous research institutes in Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia (Würzburg, Marburg, Vienna, Bratislava, Wroclaw, Opole, Krakow etc.).

Institute of History & Archival Studies, Pedagogical University of Krakow
The Institute consists of seven Departments: Ancient History, Medieval History, Early Modern History, 19th Century History, Contemporary History, Historical Education, and Archival Studies and Auxiliary Sciences of History. Moreover, the Institute has its own library and holds patronage over the Centre for the Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements. Institute of History and Archival Studies of the University of KEN in Krakow has been cooperating with many scientific and educational institutions in the country and abroad for years.
In recent years, several agreements have been signed, thanks to which our scientists and students have the opportunity to participate in national and international exchange programs. The Institute of History and Archival Studies also develops cooperation with schools and libraries. Thanks to these contacts, high school students can participate in classes conducted at the university. In addition to institutionalized forms of cooperation, there are a number of contacts with scientific and research institutions and cultural institutions. In recent years, institutions directly related to business and the economy have joined the group of cooperating entities. Department of History, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Faculty of Arts
The Department of History was established on 1 October 2008 as the part of the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University of Košice. There were two sections established in 2017: Section for Central and South-East European History Research and Section for Urban and Regional History Research. In the years 2011 – 2014, the Department was the principal research institution in the strategic project of the International Visegrad Fund „Transformation of Central European Cities in Historical Development“. Subsequently, in 2016 – 2020, the Department belonged to the consortium of recipients of the prestigious grant from the H2020-MSCA program focused on the „History of European Urbanism in the 20th century“ (urbanHIST). As part of foreign projects, financial support within the EEA Grants and US Embassy Small Grants schemes may also be mentioned. Since 2012, the Department has been publishing its own scientific journal, Mesto a dejiny, now The City and History, indexed in the databases Web of Science (ESCI), ERIH Plus, MIAR and others. Developing international cooperation is one of the priorities of the Department. Its partners come from the fields of scientific research and education. In addition to the institutions mentioned above, the Department also closely cooperates with the Silesian University in Opava, University of Ostrava, University of Hradec Králové, European University in Rome and Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. Cooperation with other partners in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Ukraine, as well as with the European Network of Memory and Solidarity is also progressing.

Ukrainian Catholic University (Український католицький університет), Humanities Faculty, Department of History
The Ukrainian Catholic University has inherited and continues to uphold the scholarly traditions of the Greek Catholic Theological Academy established in the late 1920s by Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky. Rev. Josyf Slipyj was the academy’s first rector. After the institution was closed in 1944, its mission and function were assumed by the Rome-based Pope St. Clement Ukrainian Catholic University organized and chaired by Metropolitan Josyf Slipyj in 1963. In 1994, the Theological Academy resumed its activities in Lviv, and in 2002 it was reorganized into the Ukrainian Catholic University. The Humanities Faculty was established on September 1, 2003.
